[1]GSP Orion, PSV & OSR, performed the rescue operation of the 17 seamen onboard a Turkish cargo vessel in the Black Sea.
The 17 crew members recovered from the cargo vessel Medy are all in good health, no injuries being reported.
GSP Orion was mobilized around 4:45, being instructed to head approximately 10 nautical miles away from Constanta Port, and safely recovered the 17 crew members. At 5:40 a.m. GSP Orion moored near the potentially sinking vessel, transferring the Turkish crew onboard.
The vessel dangerously tilted to the port side either due to the bad weather or a loading error will be subject to refloating attempts.
The mission completed today is not a first for GSP’s fleet: GSP King has previously completed other two successful rescue missions in the Black Sea.
GSP Orion is a supply vessel, classified under DnV (Det Norske Veritas), + 1A1, DnV +1A1 Supply vessel OILREC SF EO DINAPOS-AUT. The vessel is from 2009 the pollution response capability (OSR /Oil Spill Recovery) under EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency) coordination, covering the European Union border at the Black Sea.
