June 30, 2014
GSP Saturn rig has spudded 3-SD well in the Dolginskoye oil-field, located 75km offshore the Russian coast, in the Pechora Sea. The operations mark the commencement of the exploration project carried out by Gazpromneft-Sakhalin – a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft.
GSP Saturn jack-up has reached the drilling location on June 17th. The works will be performed during the ice-free months of 2014 and will involve drilling a single well to a depth of 3,500m and conducting a full range of geological investigations.
GSP Saturn, who has previously undergone cutting-edge refurbishment in 2009, is authorised to drill on the Arctic shelf and has been comprehensively inspected by international and Russian specialist agencies.
