Turkish Government representative visits GSP Neptun within the 3rd Bosporus Bridge project

GSP Neptun, Turkish officials onboardGSP Neptun has performed a new heavy lift operation within the construction project of the 3rd Bosporus Bridge on April 4.

The D01A steel floor weighing 940 tons is one in a series of 11 to be used for the 8-ways highway and 2-ways railway Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. The steel bridge floor measuring 58.5m width, 24m length, and 5.2m height was installed on the Asian side of the Strait in an 11 hours manoeuver performed by GSP Neptun. GSP Neptun had lifted the steel bridge floor from the transportation barge, safely carrying it on land. At the end of a three days operation, the steel bridge was installed at the end of the previous steel bridge floor after the test process.

The successful heavy lift operation is considered a milestone in the construction project of the 3rd Bosporus Bridge and Northern Marmara Motorway, and it was carried out in an official ceremony.

GSP’s crane barge received on Sunday, the 5th of April, the visit of Turkish Maritime Transport and Communications Minister, Mr. Feridun Bilgin, accompanied by ICA’s Vice-Chairman of Board Firat Cecen, 1st Regional Directorate of Highways’ Director Ismail Kartal, 3rd Bosporus Bridge and Northern Marmara Motorway Project Chief Control Engineer Beyhan Yaraman, 3rd Bridge Construction Manager Samet Seyhan. The official delegation has also stopped at the onshore construction site on the Asian shore amid project employees, where they were given information on the progress on the bridge construction.

GSP Neptun continues operations, on 7th of April the D02E steel bridge floor being lifted and carried onshore on the European side of the Strait. The crane barge was employed to carry out under the current contract 11 heavy lift works overall, of which 7 on the European side and 4 on the Asian side of the Strait.
